Dr. Khalil will take the time needed to really listen without the pressures of standard brief appointments
Many Physicians, including Psychiatrists in CT, are constrained by 15 minute appointments. They are under pressure to simultaneously evaluate a patient while maintaining computerized records. This often leaves many families feeling rushed and unheard. Dr. Khalil believes that Psychiatry is a complex medical specialty where great results come from taking the time to listen to patients and their families, to fully learn the patient’s history, and to hear their underlying concerns.
Dedicating time to the doctor-patient relationship also allows the patient to get to know Dr. Khalil (fondly referred to by his patients as Dr. Bob). Our patients tell us that Dr. Khalil’s easy demeanor, generous heart and ability to speak in terms they understand are key to building a trusting relationship which makes them feel comfortable confiding in their psychiatrist. We invite you to meet Dottie, our Pet Therapist who is an integral part of our team!

“As a parent, I feel my many concerns, inputs and questions are heard, respected and answered.”
Our commitment to your child and family often means that if needed Dr. Khalil will visit the child’s school to meet with teachers and administration to advocate for your child. In other words, we build a team to provide your child with the medical treatment and coping skills they need to meet their full potential.
It’s not unusual for our first appointment intake visit to be 90 minutes long so that we truly get to know our patients. This time is spent entirely one on one with Dr. Khalil This initial step lays the groundwork for an accurate and complete diagnosis and plan of treatment. Follow up visits range from 20 to 30 minutes .
